About Us
We offer basic level rehabilitation techniques through to advanced final phase strengthening and conditioning
Our Story
Established in September 2009, our practice has grown from strength to strength. Now, 10 years later, we are proud to say that thousands of patients have come through our practice and have received the highest quality of rehabilitative care.
Every single patient that comes through our door, becomes our number one priority. It is a privilege to go to work every day knowing that we make a difference to peoples lives and that we can improve their quality of life they can have.
Whether you are struggling with an extra few kilograms, or feel like you haven’t been able to climb the stairs without being completely knackered, or you simply get up in the morning and wonder whether it’s normal to live with pain, we would be happy to see where we can help you with our service offerings that best match your needs.
We might not have all the answers to your problems yet, however, we assure you that we will leave no stone unturned to give you the best care we can and help you on your journey of weight loss, health, fitness and to live the best life you can.
Thank you to every single person that has contributed to our success story. We look forward to serving you in the years to come.
Our Mission & Vision
BIO + KINETICS = LIFE + MOVEMENT = LIFE THROUGH MOVEMENT
At Madeleen van Eeden Biokineticist, we strive to provide comprehensive evaluations and the highest standards of rehabilitative care. We aim to get our patients back to the best quality of life that they can live out together with a desired level of physical activity that is safe, in the shortest possible time-frame.
We strive to provide our patients with individual and personalised attention, time efficient programs and treatment plans that is carried out in a state-of-the-art facility.
Our mission is to encourage and motivate our patients into action in order to achieve wellness in all aspects of their lives, with attainable and lasting results, together with after care support as well as ongoing maintenance support after recovery.
Madeleen van Eeden - BA (Hons) Biokinetics (UOFS)
My approach to physical rehabilitation and exercises is not to focus on just the quick fix, one goal that you seek, but to focus rather on the holistic benefit that you can get out of exercises. The long-term health benefits are much more important than the immediate gains you want. By thinking wellness, not illness, you can make a lifestyle change that will last long after your goals is reached.
My passion lies in helping people. The most satisfying part of my work is to see people change, get stronger and being able to perform activities that they never thought possible again.
I finished my studies at UOFS in 2016. After completing my Internship in Witbank in 2017, I ventured overseas and lived in London for almost 2 years. The business opportunity to own a Biokineticist practice came across my path in August 2009 and in September that year I returned to South Africa to start working in Secunda. Building the practice up from the ground I am now proud to say that 10 years later I am still here. I am wiser and have a lot more experience to share with my patients.
I have a special interest in Orthopedic rehabilitation and strive to stay on top of the latest techniques and skills.
Some of the Additional training courses I completed post graduate:
- Muscle activation course
- Golf mechanics course
- Various ethics courses
- Various Knee rehabilitation techniques courses
- Various Shoulder rehabilitation techniques courses
- Various Spinal rehabilitation techniques courses
- Exercise and function without pain
- Basic life support for health care providers
- Business intelligence and Practice management
- Selection of Taping techniques, including Dynamic taping, Kinesiology taping, McConnell Taping and other sporting tape
On a more personal note:
I enjoy high intensity aerobic exercises in my spare time. As a mother of two boys it is expected of me to keep up and being fit and healthy for my family and my patients are important to me.
Remember that it is the activities we engage in every day, that makes us who we are.
Sonja Hoffmann- BSc (Hons) Biokinetics at the NWU of Potchefstroom
Being physically active and healthy is one thing I strive for, but furthermore I also strive to teach and share the same principles to my patients.
Biokinetics is not just about the exercise, but also about building friendships and trust with the patients. In Biokinetics we look at you as a “whole” and not only as another knee injury or as a diabetic, for example. But instead we motivate and help you in all aspects of life in order for you to live a healthier and happier lifestyle. Some days it’s not only about health or building muscle… it’s just therapy.
I have not decided if my passion lies with clinical or orthopaedic rehabilitation, as both of them satisfies me when the patient comes through the door with a smile saying they already feel much better than before.
I graduated my three-year degree in BSc Human Movement Science and Physiology in 2016. Thereafter I got the opportunity to do BSc (Hons) Biokinetics in 2017. In 2018 I was lucky to be accepted at Madeleen van Eeden Biokinetikus to do my internship year and I have been happily working here ever since.
It is important to stay up to date with the latest studies in our work scope in order to give our patients the best possible service. I have attended extra courses in Dynamic and Kinesio taping as well as strength and conditioning courses. I hope to improve my knowledge and confidence more and more every day.
PS: Refusing to go to the gym does NOT count as resistance training 😊.
